To Capture a window

Click the shown icon on the onscreen control panel. Your pointer changes to a camera icon. Now click a window to capture that one. Use the thumbnail to markup, share, save, or take other actions on that screen.
To exclude window’s shadow from the screenshot, press and hold the Option (⌥) key while you click on the screen.

To Capture the entire screen

Click the shown icon on the onscreen control panel. Your pointer changes to the camera icon. Click on any screen to capture that one, or click Capture in the onscreen control panel. Use the thumbnail to markup, share, save, or take other actions on that screen.

To Capture a selected portion of the screen

Click the shown icon on the onscreen control panel. Drag the cursor to select an area of the screen to capture it. To move the entire selection, drag within the selection area. Click Capture on the onscreen control panel. Use the thumbnail to markup, share, save, or take other actions on that screen.

To Capture a menu

Click the menu icon to reveal its contents. Press Shift-Command-5 keys while the menu is shown up. Capture the whole menu by following the steps to capture the entire screen, capture a window (the menu will be treated as a window), or capture a selected portion of the screen.

Markup, share, and save

After taking the screenshot, a thumbnail of the screenshot will appear on the lower-right corner of your screen.
• Take no action on the thumbnail or swipe it to the right and the screenshot will automatically be saved.  
• Click on the thumbnail to open that screenshot. You can then edit that screenshot using the markup tools in the toolbar, or click icon to share it.

 • Drag the thumbnail to move that screenshot to other locations or folders, such as to a document, an email, a Finder window, or the Trash folder. 
• Control-click the thumbnail for using more options. For example, you can change the save location of the screenshot, open the screenshot in another app, or delete that screenshot without saving it.

Use Some other screenshot shortcuts

You don’t need macOS Mojave to use these shortcuts, though they will also work in Mojave.
Capture the entire screen
Press Shift-Command-3, this will save the screenshot as a .png file on your desktop. 

To Capture a window

Press Shift-Command-4. Then press the Space bar in continuity. Then the pointer changes to the camera icon. Click a window to take the screenshot of that window. Find your screenshot as a .png file on your desktop. To exclude window’s shadow from the screenshot, press and hold the Option  (⌥) key while you click on the screen.

To Capture a selected portion of the screen

Press Shift-Command-4. Then drag the cursor to select the area of the screen to capture. After you release your mouse or trackpad button, find your screenshot as a .png file on your desktop.

To Capture a menu

Click on the menu option to reveal its contents. Press Shift-Command-4 and follow the below steps. Drag the cursor to select the area of the menu you want to capture, then release your mouse or touchpad to capture that area. Or press Space bar to change the pointer to a camera icon, and then click on the menu option to capture it. Find your screenshot as a .png file on your desktop.

To Change the settings

Click Options in the onscreen control panel to change these settings: 
1. Save to: Choose where you want to save your screenshots automatically, such as Desktop, Documents, or any other folder.
2. Timer: Choose the time to take your screenshot: like immediately, after 5 seconds, or after 10 seconds you click to capture.
3. Show Floating Thumbnail: Choose whether you want to show the thumbnail or not. 
4. Remember Last Selection: Choose whether to make default or not to the selections you made the last time you used this tool.
5. Show Mouse Pointer: Choose whether to show the mouse pointer or not in your screenshot.
